4. Business Model
Hire IT Expert may deliver services directly, coordinate service requests, operate as a technology-expert network, or connect customers with participating technicians, stores, or specialist partners. The service provider for your request may be a Hire IT Expert employee, an independent technician, a participating repair store, a subcontractor, a specialist laboratory, an installation partner, or a third-party software/equipment provider. The status of the service provider will be made clear where relevant.
5. Requesting a Service
Submitting a booking form, enquiry, or quote request constitutes a service request. A request is not automatically a confirmed appointment. Availability must be confirmed. Technician or store requests are preferences unless expressly confirmed. Appointment details should be provided in writing. Service scope and estimated charges should be confirmed where appropriate.
6. Bookings and Appointment Confirmation
An appointment is confirmed only when Hire IT Expert communicates the confirmed date, time, assigned provider, and any applicable charges. Same-day or urgent support is subject to availability.
7. Technician or Store Matching
We match customers with suitable providers based on location, service required, availability, and expertise. Customers must book through approved Hire IT Expert channels. Private technician details must not be misused. Assignment can change when the requested provider is unavailable or unsuitable. Verification does not guarantee a specific outcome.
8. Quotes and Estimates
Initial estimates may be based on customer-supplied information. Diagnostics may reveal additional faults or requirements. Parts may be quoted separately. Taxes are shown where applicable. Additional chargeable work requires customer approval. Third-party subscriptions or licences may be separate. CCTV and networking quotations can change after site inspection.
9. Pricing and Payment
Pricing information will be provided during the quotation or booking process. No automatic price is generated unless backed by verified pricing rules. Payment terms and methods will be confirmed with each service engagement.
10. Customer Responsibilities
- Provide accurate information about the service required
- Confirm lawful ownership or authority over devices and premises
- Back up important data where possible
- Provide safe and reasonable premises access
- Disclose known hazards
- Obtain landlord or building permission where needed
- Keep credentials secure
- Do not request unlawful activity
- Review and approve quotes before work proceeds
- Be present or provide an authorised adult for home visits
- Remove unnecessary confidential information from devices
11. Repairs and Diagnostics
Diagnostics may be required to identify faults. Fault descriptions may not identify the underlying cause until examination. Repair success is not guaranteed. Existing damage should be recorded. Parts availability varies. Some repairs require workshop service. Some devices may be beyond economical repair. Data may be at risk. Warranty coverage must be verified and defined. Manufacturer warranties may be affected by third-party work. Customers should be informed before destructive testing or resetting where practical.
12. Remote Support
Remote support requires customer permission and a suitable working device with internet connection. Customers have the right to end the session at any time. Remote diagnosis has limitations and cannot address all faults. Escalation to an on-site visit or store drop-off may be recommended. No banking-password requests will be made. Unattended access requires a separate clear agreement.
13. Data Recovery
Data recovery is not guaranteed. Recovery attempts can worsen existing damage or fail entirely. Customers should stop using affected media. Ownership or authority may need to be verified. Specialist laboratory partners may be involved. Quotes may change after detailed assessment. Customer must review recovered data promptly. Cryptocurrency recovery, stolen-funds recovery, unlawful account access, and transaction reversal services are not provided.
14. CCTV Services
CCTV installation requires customer responsibility for lawful use. Customers must obtain permissions for rented or managed properties. Camera placement requires customer approval. Power, network, and access requirements must be discussed. Cable-route approval is required. No guarantee of crime prevention, image identification, or automatic monitoring is provided. Third-party cloud services and smartphone application subscriptions may be required. See our CCTV Privacy Information page.
15. Business IT Services
Business IT services are delivered within an agreed scope. Authorised contacts and user permissions must be confirmed. Third-party licences remain the customer's responsibility. Legacy system compatibility is not guaranteed. Customers are responsible for business-continuity planning and backups. No guaranteed uptime is provided unless a signed service agreement specifically provides for it.
16. Shopify Technical Support
Hire IT Expert provides independent technical support for Shopify stores. We are not affiliated with Shopify Inc. We cannot guarantee platform decisions, bypass account verification, control payment-provider decisions, or provide general website-design, tax, or legal advice. Third-party theme and application limitations apply. The customer remains responsible for account ownership and content.
17. Cancellation
Please see our Cancellation & Appointment Changes page for full details about changing or cancelling bookings and your consumer cancellation rights.
18. Warranties
Warranty coverage varies by service, technician, store, part, and written quotation. Please see our Warranty Information page. Nothing in these Terms reduces your statutory consumer rights.
19. Liability
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for: fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation; death or personal injury caused by negligence; breach of statutory consumer rights; or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
Subject to the above, our total liability for any claim arising from a service is limited to the price paid for that specific service. We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or incidental losses except where required by law.
20. Events Outside Reasonable Control
We are not liable for delays or failures caused by events genuinely beyond reasonable control, including severe weather, utility failures, pandemics, government restrictions, or supplier failures.
21. Complaints
If you are unhappy with a service, please contact us through our Complaints & Feedback page. We will aim to acknowledge and investigate your complaint in accordance with our internal process.
22. Intellectual Property
See our Copyright & Intellectual Property Notice.
23. Acceptable Use
See our Acceptable Use Policy.
24. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the website. The "Last updated" date at the top indicates when these Terms were last revised.
25. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer-protection rules that may apply.
